Mike brings significant experience in public relations, government affairs and media relations. His strategic planning and communications skills provide corporate, non-profit and political clients with the opportunity to tell their unique stories, advance their earned-media issues and share their ideas in the public opinion arena.

Currently, Mike is a partner with Kenyon Black, Inc., a communications firm specializing in corporate and association public relations, governmental affairs, issue advocacy, grassroots/grasstops development and paid & earned media campaigns.

Prior to founding Kenyon Black, Mike served as public relations counsel and spokesperson to a number of Fortune 500 companies and high-profile organizations including 3Com Corporation; Palm, Inc.; InVision Technologies; SonicWall; the National Taxpayers Association; and the Pacific Legal Foundation. Under his guidance, Mike’s clients were routinely featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, CNN, CNBC, Fox News Channel, ABC World News Tonight, and NBC Today.

Additionally, Mike has over 10 years of experience managing and consulting political campaigns throughout the United States. In 1998, Mike served as campaign director for California’s Republican Attorney General candidate, Dave Stirling. In this capacity, he managed all communications and political activities during the primary and general elections. Mike also worked as a senior media consultant for the national political consulting firms of Russo Marsh + Raper and McNally Temple & Associates.

Prior to his positions in the private sector, Mike also served as press secretary to a number of the state’s top legislative leaders, including the Speaker of the California State Assembly. He also served in the George H.W. Bush White House (41), where he was responsible for building coalitions of veterans, senior citizens, technology and health care leaders in the Office of Public Liaison.
